On a recent trip to Toronto we had the privilege of speaking at a small community home at the outskirts of the city. In the front row sat a spunky, beaming girl who soon became know to us as Meagan. Meagan is one of those amazing people that when you hear their story all you can do is ask “How have you not been on Oprah?” Workers at the center told us that it was her strength that kept her mother and brother steady during difficult times. Hearing that, despite recent troubles, she had recently managed to become valedictorian at her school and receive a scholarship to become a sound engineer, it was clear she was someone special.
Long before meeting us, Meagan had made a list of things she wanted to do before she died. On that list was to one day work in the music industry and although we didn’t know how we could help then, we wanted to do something to help her cross it off. Not sure what to expect, we called a man we had once met who worked at MuchMusic and told him about Meagan’s story. We hadn’t got halfway through when he stopped us and said, “Guys we’ve got to get this girl on Music is My Life!”
A couple weeks later Meagan got word that MuchMusic wanted to do an episode on her, which is great because music is definitely Meagan’s life. Better yet, they told her that she gets to produce the show! We believe that, given the chance, Meagan can achieve something incredible in this world and are stoked that MuchMusic believes so too! Can’t wait to see the show Duncan
