C'mon now, what's really important here..
When we asked strangers "If you had one day left" last August, most gave us one simple answer: I would find my family and spend time with them. Different people said it in different ways but the message was always the same: Family is #1. One woman in Penticton was so overwhelmed by the idea that she began to cry. An elderly man in Kamloops said that most of his family lived in different cities, and that he might spent his last moments on the phone telling his family that he loves them. One guy slightly older than us in Vancouver said that with one night left, he would 'get faded' with his boys. They're all legit answers, different people do it different ways.
My new friend Leah, here in Montreal, did something very interesting to show her love to the fam. Turned on to the idea by Miami Ink, she went down to the local Tattoo shop and got some lines done. She writes:
Well, it's the most important thing in my life and I wouldn't change anything about mine. I love them, I care for them, and they've always always been there for me. Someday, I hope to repay them for all the good they've given me, but for now, it's a great feeling knowing that they're with me always and forever…
If you're lucky enough to have close family, take a minute to appreciate it. If you're not going to die in the next 10 minutes, maybe give them a shout.
Hi Mom!
