An Email From Lisa

Filed Under: news — Ben, Dave, Duncan and Jonnie @ 11:01 pm

We have finally begun to catch up on the heaps of wonderful emails we received on the road during this past Tour, and there are soooo many good ones! Thank you everyone for your mail, here’s my favorite today:

“Hi, I heard the guys on Jackie and Bender this morning and I wanted to say thanks for doing these things for people.

Nearly three years ago I had the kind of colon cancer that the surgeons looks at you with pity in their eyes. I’m still here and I’m cancer free. I used to live a different life, making sure others had what they needed before my own needs were met.

I have finished many of the obligations that kept me bound to that life and have given myself permission to pursue my own dreams. I am learning everything I can about making independent films. I’m starting to write scripts. I’m volunteering on small film projects to get experience, I’m doing volunteer work for a local public television in exchange for class time learning everything I can about camera, editing, lighting and whatever else comes along.

My wish would be to have a HD Digital Camera and the Final Pro editing program for a MAC. I know you can’t really get me these things, but it’s made me really happy just to say it. thanks for your time.

Sincerely, Lisa

Lisa, that is so awesome that you are striving so powerfully towards your goals. And what creativity! Volunteering in exchange for film classes, I love it. You’re an inspiration.

Send us your address and we’ll mail you Final Cut Pro. If anyone has an extra HD Camera lying around, please let Lisa know.

Can’t wait to see your first film, Ben

p.s. Lisa - read the next blog. Just by emailing us and writing down your goals, you’re on course to be 10x more successful than your average bear. Ha! (Take that average bears).

  2. Thank you so much for the encouragement. I can’t express how much it means to me.

Everyone that I’ve let into “my little secret” has been incredibly supportive, I haven’t heard one negative comment, even from those who don’t really understand.

I wish everyone has people like this in their lives.

If I had to name one good thing that cancer gave me it would be that I no longer fear many things.

    Thanks for sharing.
