skydiving

with a little help from TBL, paul fell for 32 seconds..

If you’re new to The Buried Life here’s the deal: we are four guys trying to complete a list of 100 dreams and help other people tackle their own lists. Our goal is to help 100 strangers (at least). Here’s a letter from the first person we ever helped:

I must admit when I met you guys about a year ago on a sunny day in the Inner Harbor and you ask me that fateful question “what do you want to do before you die?” I was a bit skeptical. At that point I had not heard about The Buried Life, and I thought for somebody to randomly walk up to a stranger and ask them that question was a bit strange. I said skydiving because that was the coolest possible thing I could think of at the moment, and to my surprise you guys actually gave me a certificate for free skydiving.

Well about three weeks ago I finally used the certificate you guys gave me and actually went skydiving. I’d just like to sincerely thank you because it was by far the craziest thing I’ve ever done in my life. It was a tandem jump from 10 000 feet (pretty freaking high) and the free fall alone lasted 32 seconds before we even pulled the chute. Right before we jumped I had to hang off the side of the plane for a bit which was just craziness.

giving paul a free skydive motivated him to cross off his next big dream..

so he packed his bags and set off to egypt

what’s on your list?

Since I first me you guys I’ve been following your progress and what your doing is awesome. You have inspired me to make my own list of things I want to do before I die, and begin crossing them off as soon as possible. This summer I started off with a bang and crossed off #1 on my list “Go to Egypt and go inside the Great Pyramids”. Ever since I was a kid I’ve always loved Egypt and the pyramids, and its always been my dream. This summer I traveled Egypt and Europe, so I knew this was my big chance…

Anyways I have to go study for my next exam now (woohoo) but I just wanted to tell you guys to keep up the good work. The world needs more people like you guys. Thanks again, Paul

Thanks for the kind letter pal, we were happy to help and can bet your friends are now probably thinking about their next adventure.. Keep rockin and pay it forward -Jonnie

Penelope Needs a Home for Christmas!

Filed Under: Blogroll, news — Barry De'Lyfe @ 11:12 pm

A Home For Penelope

searching for a home for penelope

It’s getting cold out and we’re looking for a home for Penelope (our bus). She’s almost 40 years old, 35 feet long, prefers to run on bio-diesel and is a bit temperamental in the morning. We can’t keep her outside anymore because the winter weather will be damage her shiny coat and youthful spirit. We’re hoping to find some nice person who can help us shelter Penelope on Vancouver Island over the next few months. In return, you will not only be regaled as a hero in The Buried Life community, but you will also receive your very own Buried Life T-shirt!.. or 20 Buried Life T-shirts. We could even make you your own T-shirt if you’d like. Help us save Penelope! Ben

Filed Under: list, spontaneous, video — Barry De'Lyfe @ 6:49 pm

My dad called me the other day excited about a new item he wanted to add to his list of things to do before death. He told me about a scene from Sydney Pollack’s “Out of Africa”, where they take off in a biplane across South Africa. This is what my dad wants to do before he dies.. -Duncan

great list item, chalk it up for Buried Life 2009

Namaste from India!

We received our first letter from India today! Hi-5’s around the office and it was read it aloud to everyone at Buried Life Headquarters (i.e. Jonnie and I in his living room). We had to share… we love our friends overseas.

Namaste from Bombay, India. I’m sure your mailbox must be flooded with innumerable mails waxing eloquent bout how what you guys have done has affected lives et al…Add me to that list! Short of making and distributing “I heart The Buried Life” tees, I have been avid follower of your tour and the adventures. Should come to South East Asia sometime. Its not a bad place, you know! I discovered your site during the bleak hours, nothing too grave but it made me rethink a whole lof of stuff and am glad I found it.

All the best. Much Love,

Scherezade

Thanks for your note Scherazade, it’s messages like these that keep us movin’.
