I’m not a golfer; It’s not my thing. So when I set off to Southern California this winter, I turned to google for help. What I found was the answer to a life long dream: a four day intensive salsa workshop.

also salsa, but different
Our incredible coach, Edie the Salsa Freak, told us guys that we were to lead our female partners through every move, “so don’t let them get bored”. With all the responsibility, I got nervous. The girls had to trust us not to drop them but it’s really hard to concentrate on both the new dance steps and controlling your partner. Plus, the ladies were all wearing sexy little dance outfits because salsa is supposed to be “a sensual dance.”

“the salsa freak”
After many miss-steps, trips, and a couple awkward glances, I nailed it. Now I feel like I’ve learned one of the most useful skills in the world. If you have any interest in salsa, I highly recommend trying a class; you get to spin girls all over the floor and shake your hips and feel “sensual”. Although I don’t have the best moves yet, if anyone out there wants to practice, I’m down. wink ![]()

Hi, I just wanted to let you guys know that I read your story in the gazette yesterday and the last two paragraphs keep replaying in my head. I’ve just gone back to work after 12 years of being a stay at home mom. I was blessed with having this wonderful opportunity to stay home and raise my 3 kids(ages 17/14/11). A new position has opened up at work and I’m hesitating on applying for the job. The reason “FEAR”, the training is in Zurich and I have a fear of flying. We still manage to fly 1-2 times a year, but this is driving me crazy since I will be flying over the Atlantic ocean. I love my job(not too many people can say that)and this would be a wonderful opportunity to advance. I have until tomorrow to apply for this position and I’m still not sure if I should. I admire you guys for having no fear and just going for it, I wish I had half the courage you guys have. Maria

Maria!
Thank you for your comment, I hope this gets to you soon - Apply for that job! You can always decline, but it sounds like a wonderful opportunity considering your job makes you happy.
I’ve flown over the Atlantic and it’s a s snap, honestly, it’ll be over in a wink.
Please call if you want to chat about it. I can tell you all about the warm cloths they give you before and after the flight (they’re great).
Go for it! -Ben
