Nicaragua!!!!
Hola!
Ben checking in from across the globe, here’s the story: My friend sent me a message last week asking if I wanted to go to Nicaragua to surf. “Yeah right!” I have no money, in fact I owe more money than I have to my name. Then I remembered that #92 on the list is Learn to Surf… shoot.
I decided to just check out the price of flights and stumbled upon a cheap one to Nicaragua. Then I ‘forgot’ to renew the insurance on my car, borrowed $300 from a friend and bought a ticket on Monday which left the following Saturday. With little money, less Spanish and no guide book I took off with my friend to Nicaragua for a 2 week adventure.
Now I’m in Nicaragua getting crushed by the biggest waves I’ve ever seen and grateful that I didn’t pass this up (regardless if I’m car-less when I return, I still have my rollerblades, right?)
I’m only able to pick up a slow internet connection, so I’ll post some of the adventures in a day or two… here are a few pics for now:
Searching for a water hole (and new shorts)
The most beautiful child I’ve ever seen
Hitchhiking with locals to a hidden surf spot
Cowabunga!
Stories to come: Typhoons, perfect waves and fake moustaches.
Hasta luego amigos, chat soon!
Ben

Wow, had I stumbled upon this adventure of yours earlier I would have definitively gone with you. I moved to Nicaragua a few months ago to help my dad with some stuff since my grandfather passed away recently. Actually, surfing has been in my list for the last year and yet I’ve never been able to go here because I don’t know anyone who surfs around here (actually, I’ve moved around from country to country so much that I have very few acquaintances anywhere), but alas, its too late. I only hope if you ever come by here again (or Honduras, I’m moving there in the next months) I can offer my help for anything.
From a fellow traveler of the world:
Best of luck on your future endeavors!
