Dave recently traveled to Sun Valley, Idaho to help a group of aspiring b-boys and girls cross off a collective item on their list, ‘Learn How to Breakdance’. Dave is a professional breakdancer and when we cruised through Sun Valley last fall he held an impromptu breakdance class with some of the locals. It was such a hit that they politely begged him to come back. It didn’t take much (a burrito) to get Dave packing and on his way back to the Gem State.
Mr. Dave teaching some ‘top rock’
Dave said he loved teaching you guys. He also said he loved the rave in the mountains.
Here’s a clip of Dave doing an impulsive throwdown at the Much Music studio:
I was cruising through The Buried Life community (a place where you can share your list with the world) and I came across Nick’s Page. Nick posted all 100 things he wants to do before he dies and some of them are just too good to go unnoticed. Here’s a sample from his list, some of them definitely got me thinking…
#66 Spend at least two years in San Diego, actively involved in the film community.
#67 Improve Family ranch
#68 Start a ranch as alternative rehabilitation for troubled youth.
#69 See Emotional Intelligence practices placed at the middle school level (at least).
#70 Make anti-weapon weapon. Like the “Radio Enforcer” which emits a temporarily paralyzing radio frequency when it detects gunfire or a bomb that releases a gas that disables the active chemicals in gunpowder and guns.
#71 Support initiatives that make prisons better at REHABILITATING and or PUNISHING criminals. Anything to change prisons from a place that CREATES better criminals instead of creating BETTER citizens.
#72 Design and sell at least 10 of my t-shirt designs.
#73 Find at least one person, a relative stranger, who truly deserves it and pay their way through college.
#74 Make or support a free national transit system.
#75 Make a free, environment friendly, safe, popular, town sized transit system.

#82 Go to a rave!
#83 Have a photoshoot for the cover of a national magazine.
#84 Have my dream girl from high school fall in love with me.
If you want to see the rest of Nick’s 100, dive in HERE. If you think you can help him with any of his list items, please let him know… that’s why the community was created. If YOU want to share your list with the planet and chat with other dreamers, get your freak on HERE.
Nick, we may be able to help you out with #72 and #73 on your list… please give us a shout. We also share a few list items, we’ll give you a call when we’re heading out to cross off #90 on your list (#66 on ours).
Heya guys. Apologies for the absence… the past week we’ve been working day and night following a lead that could have gotten us to Beijing for the Olympics (huuuuge dream!). Unfortunately it didn’t pan out but no worries, it just so happens that the 2010 Games are in our backyard. Keep an eye open for us in one of the events (#91 on the list).
As punishment for not blogging for nearly a week, we sacrificed Ben to the ocean gods. Here is a video of the ceremony.
Have you ever seen the movie “That Thing You Do” with Tom Hanks and Liv Tyler? It’s about a bunch of kids who start a band and release a single that becomes a hit.
Near the beginning of the movie two of the band members are working in an appliance store and happen to turn on the radio. To their amazement their song comes on. Everyone jumps up and down and screams and shouts and runs out on the street.
When I was 14 I saw that movie on TV and decided that one day I wanted to experience that feeling. I even put it on the list - #20: Get a song you’ve written on the radio.
I’m happy to announce that yesterday - without petitioning or any contact whatsoever - my band’s cover of Feist’s 1234 was played on-air in Portugal! When I heard it the hairs raised on my arms and my friends and I high-5′d. It was even better than I could have imagined.
We’re called “bikini” - electric pop music for kids in love - and we have an EP coming out next month (so maybe there will be more radio play down the road!) You can listen on our MySpace here. -Jonnie
I got asked to DJ a street party for American Apparel this weekend. I’ve never DJ’d before but it’s on my list of things to do before I die so I said yes. Thankfully it all went well and I came out of three days on the tables with a basic understanding of what to do. Watch out world!
In other news, our friends over at Voleurz (a group of skiing / snowboarding / skating friends who joined together to start a sick clothing company) just launched the teaser to the second movie release (titled “Outdoor Education”)! Check it out..
They are getting A LOT of attention in the industry for merging all three sports together seamlessly. They deserve it. Big ups to everybody over there for making Voleurz what it is! And for starting ToeStanders - the greatest sport (?) of all time. -Jonnie
As some of you may know, #79 on our list is ‘Dance with Ellen DeGeneres‘. In the past few days we’ve received quite a few emails from people saying, “I just emailed Ellen!” (hoot hoot!)
This one is by far my favorite:
Hi, I’m french and I don’t speak very well english… but I send a mail to Ellen Degeneres for you… it’s not so important, but I hope you have your number 79… lol… good luck with the rest of your list… Gaël, from Paris, France
Thank you Gaël! That’s far from insignificant, that’s a huge help! Hi-5’s to all of you who have taken time to email Ellen to let her know about The Buried Life. We figure it’s just a matter of time before her inbox actually explodes from all your emails and she’s calling us for a dance-off on her show.
If you want to help out, send Ellen an email HERE. Tell your friends, tell your grandmother, send a message in a bottle and when we get on the show it’ll all be because of you.
