awesome website guys. love seeing what youve done!!! i want to go on a hot air balloon ride!
Comment by Brad Henke — September 7, 2007 @ 1:45 pm
Albuquerque’s 2007 International Hot Air Ballon Fiesta happens in October. 1000 hot air balloons in the New Mexico sky at one time! You should add it to your agenda. I even know someone who is getting married in ABQ that week. You could cross off two items on your list at one time. http://www.balloonfiesta.com
Wow.You totally inspire me. As I’ve just turned 50, I am asking myself this question alot. What do I want to do with the next 50 (God willing) years?
One of my dreams has been to publish my own magazine, and I do. AS IF Magazine, (www.asifmagazine.com) is an online “place” where we feature all the things I love–including a section called LIVING AS IF, in which we feature people who are living AS IF anything were possible.I would love to feature you there–who knows, maybe Ellen will read the story in AS IF!
I’d also like to invite you to my blog at amyoscar.blogspot.com, where I am posting a question of my own:
What would you do with 330 million dollars? based on the recent prize in the national Mega Millions lottery.
My question, like yours, asks people to consider what they would do if there were no limit to their time, money, health, relationships…. What projects would they start? What people would they want to meet–and to become?
Good luck with your project and I hope to hear from you.
I saw your video clip on a post from Dr. Zogs Sex Wax myspace page and was inspired and came by your website to see what I could do. I am not sure you want to learn with me as I am sure you may find that surf lesson from someone famous or at a more exotic and warmer place but I am hoping for you all to succeed in your endeavors. There are a couple of things that I will be thinking about since I have seen this and I think its fantastic how this is spreading such good vibes. Good luck guys.
I’d quite like to see a return to a world in which people didn’t equate doing good with behaving in a self-indulgent manner. But I doubt I’ll see it.
Also, I’d love to understand why my best friend perjured herself to make a malicious false accusation of sexual misconduct against me. This is a dream which has haunted me for 20 years now. It too is unlikely to happen, but it’s a timely reminder that not all dreams are warm and fuzzy and make marketable TV.

I am so delighted to see someone do what you’re doing, that I cannot resist also throwing an offer in your direction. If you find yourself back in the vicinity of the lower mainland BC between early January and late March, I can help you with #67. I am a university professor and the class you could present your speech at would have 170 students. Come to think of it, you might be able to cover off #26 at the same time, if I invite a judge to join us.
Hi guys. I just read about you in the Vancouver Sun and checked out your list. I can help with #76 and #87. I’m an elementary teacher in Richmond, BC. At the end of your tour, your speech would inspire our 550 students to reach for their dreams. We would be thrilled to have you visit the school. Please would you teach my class of 30 grade 6 students, who are looking for good role models?
Let me know, Sarah

Its amazing, what you guys are doing…Sure I’ll email Ellen! And some of my goals (go into space-its SO hard I almost gave up until I saw ur website-fall in love, jump off a waterfall, teach an elementary school class, experience zer gracity-the space thing and LOTS more) coincide with yours and I only hope I can cancel them out too someday!
What a good way to start off a routine day; get off the train and pick up a newspaper that has an article about you guys in it. How truly inspiring. I have a list myself that I started to compile some time ago. I believe there are so many people out there that have big dreams and never manage to get out of their own way in order to accomplish them. I’m striving towards accomplishing my dreams just like you and its kinda oddly comforting to know that other average people have BIG goals to work towards. I wish all of you the very best of luck.
PS. When you’re successful in achieving your arts/entertainment dreams, I’d love to read or hear about how you made it/them happen.
PS2. If you’re in vegas now and you want to skydive, go to vegas extreme skydiving.com. Its actually in Jean (40 min outside the city) but the guys there make it memorable and SOOO FUN!! Just a heads up..its tandem but still an INSANE thrill. Did it in May of this year and would recommend to anyone.
I might be able to help you ride a bull this week actually. Call me 831-419-7075 I have to check with the crew but I know KDON 102.5 The Morning Madhouse’s boy Toy Bobby is riding a bull as a promotion in a PBR event in Hollister. Email me or call me.
Hey guys, our grade 10 Planning class in Hope BC read your article.
It would be awesome if you could come in sometime.
We all wrote down 3 things that we wanted to do before we died
Thanks for inspiring us
“Hope” we can see you soon!
Comment by Delaney — September 25, 2007 @ 11:53 am
Hey guys. So I think what you guys are doing is really cool and me and my friends would love it if you could come to our school. We are in B.C. and I know you guys are doing a U.S. tour, but maybe you could make an exception? Our school is in Hope B.C. It’s a really small little town, but it’s great. Our school is called Hope Secondary School and the class that we would love for you to visit is planning 10, block 2, I know that sounds completely lame, but it would be awesome if you guys could come and talk to us! Thanks so much. I hope you guys do everything on your list!

#13. My retired father leads a crew at one of Habitat for Humanity’s outposts in Florida. He could teach you how to build a house, and provide the house for you to build.
Heard about you through Jan. Haven’t seen much PR for you in the southeast, but I’ll e:mail your website to everyone I know out here and maybe that’ll help - just a little - to get a bit more recognition out this way. What you’re doing should be shared with everyone!
My father use to say ‘when I retire, I’ll…’, or ‘when I win the lottery, I’ll…’. Then at age 62 he died alone in the shower from a heart attack. He never did any of his ‘when I’ wishes.
Because of that, and with the suggestion of a friend, I have a “20 Things To Do Before I Die” list. When I complete something on my list, I cross it off and add something in it’s place - making it never ending.
Thanks for reminding us just how much there is to do in life! D
Hey guys its good to see someone living the dream. I dont know who wanted to start the idea but I know that in every Bachelors heart of hearts they wish they could be like you.
By the way; I still say you got lucky Dave, you almost killed yourself with that gainer but again props on the recovery, well I hope I when I get out of the coast guard I can one day something so jaw dropping as you guys are doing. Congrats and take it easy you guys aint got nothing but time.

Well good luck with all your adventures and crossing off ALL the things on your list! Can’t wait to hear about some more of the wonderful things you guys are doing!!
Wow! I remember some of you fellows from when I was a teacher at Monterey. Saw your bus today and am checking out the site. Amazing. I am going to show to my own sons and pass on the site to friends. Be proud, you are an inspiration and a breath of fresh air.

You guys are an inspiration to me & my sons. What a great idea. During my high school years our principle brou8ght in a guy like you guys who was only in his mid thirties & had done almost 80 or so of his 100 list. He was still trying to to go to the moon, etc. That has always inspired me. Great job. What a purposeful life!

#13 have you tried to contact Ty Pennington from ABC. They build a house for a stranger in a week and last I knew of they are always looking for volunteers. I believe the best way to find out would be to Log onto ABC.com and search Extreme makeover home edition. Also There are Habitat for Humanity projects going on all over the place and your time might be considered making a large donation to charity. If you come to Oregon I’ll be the stranger and my fiance and I will take you out to dinner. Luke

This is a great thing that you are doing. My students are going to create a list of all the things they wished to accomplish before they die now. We all need to think about all that life is and all it has to offer each of us. There is no reason to procrastinate in this lifetime. We only get one go-round here, so we need to make the most of it.
okay i find this a little weriod but i still like some of the things that you have included in doing before you guys die. some of our thoughts are the same but same are a little different.
Hey guys! I think that what you are all doing is amazing and the fact that you are not only doing it for yourself, but helping others along the way is just incredible! Thanks so much for the inspiration you instill in people and I’m wishing you the best of luck in accomplishing the things you want to do before you die. God Bless!
Wow you guys are pretty cool. Seriously this idea is wicked wicked cool. I hope you guys do all the stuff that you want. GOOD LUCK :D BTW the paper that you list is on is rlly rlly big. Haha random but it is. Someones very artistic

I hope that you achieve every thing on your list!!
Its nice to see that their are people out there who follow their dreams !
Its nice to see all the accomplishments you guys have made
& I wish you luck in finishing the rest of your list (:
This is a very creative idea that you guys have came up with! You’ve come up with some amazing acheivements. Although some may seem a bit far fetched, I’m sure they all have a meaning to you guys. Best of luck finishing the list! :]
Hey Guys, You could do #62 pretty easily in the Boston Commons they’re protests there every week, and tehy have great donuts. I like the idea but what will you do when you run out of items on the list? You guys inspire others to do crazy things before they die and i think thats pretty sweet. Personally, i want to live in a hippy commune for a year and beat all three supper mario brothers back to back.
Pe@ce
Awesome progress guys! You should set up a facebook quiz that others can access. Spread the word! I’m afraid that I can’t help you much unless you wanna come over to Scotland. Let me know if you do! You could represent Canada at a Highland games here in Scotland? It’s easier than learning to play Rugby or Cricket!
Saw you guys on Current TV tonight and had to see your site to read your full list. Can’t wait to come up with my own list and to read the list of your other followers.

(well i`m from Romania ..if one of the things from the list u can do here…you`re more than welcome to come)
Hi Guys! This is awsome. I just want to say that I’m a regular guy too. I’ve done a lot on my list already. I’ve basically rebuilt my house from the ground up, sorry if I had known three yeards ago I would have invited you to help. I’ve become a father. I overcame my fear of going out in public once, fully dressed as woman. What a rush! Who said life has to boring.
I have been romantically challenged for quite some time now and believe it is because of my infatuation with Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20. He’s simply set the bar too high for anyone else to measure up. Please bring him to me…I need closure, and meeting him (outside of stalking his concerts) may be enough to cure me. It’s also on my list
Your Truly,

Hey guys! What you’re doing is awesome: your putting your reasons to live on a list Great work, and I hope you come to Montreal sometime, because I’d sure like to help you on one of your goals. Continue your hard work!

This list made me smile and think… You shall achieve all that you wish… have a great journey… it is life after all
Hello im a 13 year old boy who has been following all of your work you have inspire dme to do charity work also you have givin me a diffrent outlook on life and for that i thank you.
I want to Apologize about all my bad deeds or anything I have done in my life, with Almighty Allah.
Start Praying and doing Good Things….
Thats what I want to before I die…
I’ve asked this question alot. And I know there are many things I won’t be able to do in life but I saw you had “be in a hollywood movie” and that hit me deeply. Before I die I want to create a film, or documentary, that changes people’s view on what they understand about the world. If a newspaper can effect politics I want a film that can effect the world. You guys keep on doing what your doing. So far your closer to my dream than me. Rock on!
I think it’s great that you guys have the tenacity to pursue your dreams. I just wish that more of the list was focused on helping others and making the world a better place instead of shallow, mindless indulgences. I hope as time passes you’ll add more entries on helping other people. Use this list to change the world! Exchange the Playboy Mansion with helping the homeless, jumping off a waterfall with purifying and ensuring safe water in third-world countries, etc. The power is in your hands.
If you come to Avon, Indiana I’ll totally teach you how to play the flute! (#23)
It’s awesome what you guys are doing, and I’ll totally help with anything if you ever come through Indy!
Hi guys,
My name is Jeffrey B and what you guys are doing is amazing it has changed my way of thinking and looking at life, but I actually have something to say,
I can help with #88, the jump off a waterfall one, theres this spot where I live and its truely amazing, I’ve been there many many times,
The waterfall is not huge but its very fun and I hope you get back to me on it
Thanks for reading

They dont want to WORK WORK WORk all the time and not see there kids like my parents dont ever see me. There job is enjoying life and anytime they want to invite me to do something with them im there!!!
Wow what an amazing experience, I started living my life like that many years ago and have had some fabulous experiences and unbelievable stories. My wife and I get out and travel about 6 times a year to new places and are getting our lives in order to be able to start taking 4 to 5 months off each winter and go sailing to various parts of the world. I wish you all the best in your adventures and will check back here often to see how many of them you have achieved.
For item number 34 look close when you are at the store and sooner or later you will find a person that truly needs the help. As for #54 and #58 swing into Traverse City Michigan and I will be happy to assist you.

I’m a little disconcerted about #58 - See a dead body.
This is not something to take lightly.
In the summer of 2007, I got shock - my friend David (Dae Hoo) was dead. David was an active member of Toronto’s West Coast Swing dance community. He was 26. Just under 20 members of the dance community (including myself) attended his funeral - much to the surprise of his family, who did not realise how important their son was to us.
It was open casket. I had only just danced with the boy a week earlier. Now all I had was dancer in funereal makeup wearing a suit in a satin lined box.
So before you go view a body - you may want to ask what purpose the action serves.
I’ve gone to Mexico for a mission trip where we built a house for a homeless family. It’s with a group called Casas Por Cristo (http://www.casasporcristo.org/)
You should definately check them out
Good job with all the work you’re doing, guys. It’s unbelievably admirable.

Hey!
For your number 89, you can go to the Zero Gravity Corporation, who offers this kinds of flights in Florida, Las Vegas, and San Jose CA.
This is their website: http://www.gozerog.com/
Or you can Google “vomit comet” for more agencies.
Good luck at getting special prices(they are expensive!)and in your whole journey.
Hey
I just want you guys to know that what you are doing is amazing. I’ve recently read “Maiden Voyage” by Tania Aebi, and it has inspired me to sail across the world. I might be young, but I’ve been thinking a lot lately. Do I want to follow the crowd and go to college? Or should I choose the happy life and sail places, never staying in one place for too long?
= /
I don’t think I could possibly be happy going to college and holding down a job in one place. I know it isn’t SUPPOSED to be fun or exciting, but I want MORE out of life, and I can’t get that sitting around in one place, can I?
How do i join! that be so wierd to just get up and go do. what about the cost and time? thats awsome i know a couple of thoses i could defenatly help you with. i am an ellen fan id love to see you guys on there, and how in the world did you get the hook ups to open the morning news?
you guys are amazing and so young too.
#54 is easy. Call the Red Cross and ask when/ where on the next blood drive. Arrange a ride home if you pass out- the highest number of people don’t- and don’t be a squink about needles. You ARE saving a life.
You guys are so awesome. This thing you’re doing is so… beautiful. I wish you the best of luck and I know that before this is done, you’ll have touched so many people’s lives and influenced so many others.
What you guys are doing is awesome! One thing missing from your list- #101: Dedicate yourself to a religion. It really does make your life better knowing that your living for a purpose. Keep up the amazing work guys,
dude…# 25: drive across n. america….i so wanna come with and help change the world, what an amazing opportunity!…u better start that in fl. and pick me up while ur here!!
Wow, to think that you have been doing this for a while and I did’t know about it. It was a blessing to wake up and watch your video this morning. You guys are awsome, may God continue to blees youall where ever you go. Keep it up. Well I have to go and e-mail Ellen now, Kisses to all and Good Luck.

Hi, Guys I´m from dominican republic and I just watch your intro in Youtube and a think is amaizing what are you doing because most of us i meann humans don´t ever make anything of what we really wants so, good luck. And you alredy have a dominican fan.
Hey guys I always wanted to have a massive water balloon fight in downtown. Ive also wanted to ride my bike for an entire week. Also Id like to feed at least 10 homeless people. Dunk on a Basketball hoop in front of a bunch of strangers. Start a chant at a pro football game.
You know what guys Im going to raise money up and start my own list for next summer.
I came across your website a little over a year ago…..and it has inspired me since! I’m crossing off another one of my must-do’s tomorrow: running a marathon! Thanks for the inspiration.
Keep up the great work and continue to inspire the world!
Hey Guys! I found you on youtube and I think it’s awesome what you are doing. I’m a naturally shy and nervous person, but since crossing off one of my goals three months ago (Go to Mexico), I’ve grown a lot and embraced the idea of trying new things.
I thank you for inspiring me a ton. I have completed three of my goals and I currently have 20 goals and 4/5 of a goal to go. And I’m always adding more.
Thanks again! God bless you!

This might help to croos one thing off your list but in Disney World in one of the water parks you can swim with sharks, they are not going to eat you or are killer but…they ARE sharks.
Hey guys,
I’ve been in the Air Force for 20yrs and I love your idea and have learned over the last year with the death of my sister that life is short and you can’t take it for granted even though we do. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you. I do not have an answer to the “what would you do question” or why I even came across your site. I just happened to find it and wanted to know more. I just want my family to be as stress free and as happy as they can be. Good Luck with your jorney and God Bless You.

you can organise a surprise party for me! i won’t tell anything jaja,
sorry my english, i’m argentinian.
I may be a able to help you guys with that. I’ve been writing a LOT lately. About life, mostly about teens though, growing up, realizing things about life. I’ve written some pretty personal things down. I was hoping to be able to make it a book. It would mean the world to me if I could write something, and publish something millions of people would read and appreaciate. I really want to get to people, and try to make a difference. I’m great at writing, so I thought that it would be a great start. I was pretty depressed lately though, I was actually put in and out of a mental hospital three times, for attempted suicide..I was ready to give up on writing..I had given up on everything else. But I met some people that helped me turn around. And i’m glad I found you guys. It only pushes me even more to keep doing what i’m doing. Maybe i’ll make my own list, and set out to accomplish it. (:
But anyways, if you would like to, if and when I finish writing it, you can use it to cross off number ninteen (:
Just e-mail me.
Thank you all so much for pushing this idea and philosophy of life forward into the public eye. Too many people languish in mediocrity and put off chasing their dreams until it’s too late. Some of your ideas are hilarious, others maybe a little unrealistic but the list itself is completely inspirational. Good luck in all that you do and God Bless.
And as far as #62 goes, I’m sure there will be several groups protesting outside of the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota (September 1st-4th) and the Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado (August 25th-28th). Maybe you could join in with whichever group/cause you feel like supporting there. Again, best of luck to you all in following your dreams.
i was just commenting your youtube video and came here why dont you sell your Tshirts for like 5 bucks or something and then the money you collect you can donate it to charity and that would cross off number 30? like sell them for a year then donate the money, i dont know maybe its hard, but just a thought
and i really am emailing ellen now to tell her to get you guys on the show! haha i would love to see that episode.
What a list. I looked at this by mistake thinking it was one big joke on youtube and found you uys! Wow you have come a long way nd stil has a way to go. Well I don’t blame you on the dancing with Ellen thing I watch taht show and if I had the chance I would do it to. I still have many years of live to go and if I had to choose now, because I would die tomorrow, I would want to for a day be in a huge animal rescque (a little more then what duncan did when he pulled his cat out of the tree). And take part at visiting and ready to unheathly kids in the hospital. What you guys are doing is great and I give my preys to you guys for a save journey and get that list finish. I believe if you can get it finished they might put you in the book for world records!…. oh and one more stange thing I want to do would maybe break a limp…… Besdies a hip.. Lol. Your an inspireation. Thanks.
Hi guys I was hoping you can hope me with something I have always wanted to do….. Box a kangaroo? Sounds weird but have always wanted to do it. Would be a great memory
We just made a promise that when any of us saw a beautiful girl we’d walk up to her and ask to kiss her because we’ve all had that girl get away. We either get smacked or it works out (jk). Jonnie did it once and it was awesome.
Hey Guys,
i heard about you guys on sunday for the first time at my church. I was inspired by you guys, and i want to do my own list with some friends and use some of your guys list ideas if its ok with you guys. since we only have so much time untill we die, we should live life all out! Thanks for the inspirement!
What a cool thing you are doing! What could be better than living your dream? I just linked on to this site today, and
I was hooked! I love the concept & content! I too have a mental “list”… some of the items I could cross off with a bold sharpie & some more are still calling my name.
My brother once told me if you don’t follow your dreams they are just like a big pile of shit…just sitting there, waiting to be scooped up & thrown away! A little gross, but I got the message! Good Luck Guys! I’m inspired & impressed. Perhaps I’ll put my pen to the paper & write my list…then I’ll share it with you. Also somehow I got this blurb about what would you do with 340 million…I’m just the one to reply to that! I’ve always known I’d be a great rich person & my generosity could change alot of lives & it would thrill me to my soul to be able to make these dreams of mine come true! Hey Guys,
I know it isn’t on the list, but if you roll past Cambridge (i.e. Cambridge in the U.K, not America), I can definitely hook you up with accomodation etc (during term time at least)
Or if you’re heading through Sweden outside term time, mail me if you’re in Gothenburg
I know everyone else has said it enough, but you are a really inspiring bunch of people
By accident I saw your link on Youtube, today,
just 2 weeks after some friends and I created our own list of things to do before we die, we started ‘googling’ around for other people’s lists: 1000 places to visit… things to eat etc. So to get an idea what to ‘put on black and white’. After seeing your list I am only more excited and committed to do ours and make life what You want it to be (wonderful, exciting) and to do what you want and with whom you care for.
Thanks and good luck with the rest of your list
Perhaps we’ll start our own site… well maybe someday.

Hi Guys!
It`s really amazing idea! I`m going to promote your site and your style! Now, i have to prepare my own list of things to do before i die… ;o)
Good luck!!! ;o)
Hi, I’m french and I don’t speak very well english… but I send a mail to Ellen Degeneres for you… it’s not so important, but I hope you have your number 79… lol… good luck with the rest of your list… Gaël, from Paris, France
Hi.
Hope you can handle a negative comment also.
The jobs you’ve chosen to do aren’t so tough to accomplish (except some few of them).
Also, if you accomplish job 100, you also accomplish job 89, so actually there are less than 100 jobs.
As a positive comment, I have to say that to make a list of some things to do before ou die it’s a good idea, but more important is that you actually try to do it (some people would do the list, but not try to acomplish it).
hi.
i just watched all your guys vids today on youtube!
you guys are super cool and i might one day
create one of my own lists like these…
good luck with this, mabye one day you guys can come overseas.
Good Luck =)
Wow… You guys are amazing. You inspired my friend and I to start our lists. I just wanted to say that. By the way, before I die I want to walk around New York City with my friend Shari wearing a clown nose. Good luck with your list!
i’ve had my list for about 3 years now…when i moved from Lebanon because of the war…i have some pretty weird…but my favorites are numbers 53-slap someone really hard across the face in my own defense 104-see Rawad again and tell him in person i love him and 105-retire in south lebanon
still working on my list…glad to see i’m not alone!
yay!…i’ve had my own list for the past three years! (since i left Lebanon and moved to the U.S.)
my favorite one is number 56 on my list “learn to ride a unicycle”…’cause my mom used to when she was in college…
i’m glad yours is going well!
good luck
You guys are amazing! You’re inspired me and a friend to do something like this, we’ve pinched a few of yours (sorry!) but that’s only because they’re brilliant.
HEY GUYS! I just completed my list of 100 I share at least ten of your items! You should check it out, there might be some goals on my list that you guys would like to shoot for ha ha!
Thanks for the inspiration! http://buriedlife.ning.com/profile/Nick89
What can I say? You guys are truly awesome. Since I saw your pod on Current TV I’ve been obsessing; I’ve told all my friends and a few of us are working on our lists–and I’ve got something for you (I don’t have time to read through all the comments right now, so sorry if this is a duplicate!):

Carpe diem,

I believe the best way to find out would be to Log onto ABC.com and search Extreme makeover home edition. Also There are Habitat for Humanity projects going on all over the place and your time might be considered making a large donation to charity. Before I die I want to create a film, or documentary, that changes people’s view on what they understand about the world. If a newspaper can effect politics I want a film that can effect the world. You guys keep on doing what your doing. So far your closer to my dream than me. Rock on!
Comment by Nick — May 31, 2008 @ 4:57 pm
I think it’s great that you guys have the tenacity to pursue your dreams. I just wish that more of the list was focused on helping others and making the world a better place instead of shallow, mindless indulgences. I hope as time passes you’ll add more entries on helping other people. Use this list to change the world! Exchange the Playboy Mansion with helping the homeless, jumping off a waterfall with purifying and ensuring safe water in third-world countries, etc. The power is in your hands.
Comment by Andrea — May 31, 2008 @ 5:26 pm
If you come to Avon, Indiana I’ll totally teach you how to play the flute!

It’s awesome what you guys are doing, and I’ll totally help with anything if you ever come through Indy!

Good luck, friends!

Hey guys,
I’ve been in the Air Force for 20yrs and I love your idea and have learned over the last year with the death of my sister that life is short and you can’t take it for granted even though we do. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you. I do not have an answer to the “what would you do question” or why I even came across your site. I just happened to find it and wanted to know more. I just want my family to be as stress free and as happy as they can be. Good Luck with your jorney and God Bless You.

Number 19. Write a book.

Lol.
I hope to be in touch with you in the future! May the force be with you! chall in Michigan

If you’re ever in VA we should get together and play midnight putt-putt. (This fulfills my ‘Play putt-putt with the guys from The Buried Life’!)

hey for number 13 you check out the HOMES FOR THE HOMELESS foundation, they build houses in Reynosa Mexico for poor families that are currently living in makeshift houses. I’m sure if you contact that foundation about it you could help them out.
